Jackson TS #9
On Thursday, August 5 at 1:00pm, I met with Masoud again for our second tutoring session. We picked up where we left off the previous time, working on pronunciations of minimal pairs, working on those for 20 minutes. Then, we transitioned into a lesson I had created about the past continuous tense. He picked it up fairly quickly, having already studies the present continuous and simple past. The biggest sticking point came over the difference between 'when' and 'while' when making compound sentences with the past continuous and simple past. It took him a little while to grasp the concept of a one time action (simple past) vs. an action that has continued for a period of time (past continuous). After a bit of talking and many examples, though, he understood it perfectly and was able to create many examples of his own.
