I met with Steven for an hour and we went over question and answer grammatical structures. I created a print out for him that was color coded to show the question word, the subject and verb placement, and the auxillary verb. He said the colors helped him understand the sentence structures. Then we reviewed a handout he had from class that had more sentence structures. We color coded those sentences too so he could have a visual representation of the subject, verb, and object placement. For the rest of the session we practiced asking and answering questions about what he did over the weekend or what our favorite music is. I enjoyed this session because visual learning helps me and I was able to share this style of learning with Steven. Language is also kind of like math, so this lesson showed the typical sentence "formula".
