Topic/Skill: Reading Comprehension, Short Stories with questions, Speaking Practice

Feedback provided to tutee: In this session, we practice Alice's speaking skills. I had her read out loud some short stories. While reading, I noticed that she doesn't have any breaks in her speech. She stops for periods, but not for commas. I will have her practice her speech more in our future sessions. I also noticed that her pronunciation is pretty good. She just needs a little more work. Also, her reading comprehension is great. When we answer the questions, she is able to accurately remember the story and choose the correct answer. I try to keep the short stories around 450-550 words, so it doesn't get too long for her.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I have noticed that it is important to have one aspect of the lesson be of interest to Alice. Today, for reading comprehension we read Cinderella. She mentioned in the last session, that she wanted to read more stories and she enjoyed the story Cinderella. I also noticed that when answering questions, it helps a little to scroll back to the story so if she gets stuck she can refer back to it. Also, the short break has been helpful. Alice has started to open up, and I can get a feel of what she likes and doesn't like.
