Neika TS #4

Date/Time: 7/7/21 5:40-6:40

Location: Zoom

Topic/Skill: Adverbs

Feedback provided to tutee: Alice was able to identify different types of adverbs. She understood the two videos that I showed her and used the info she learned to answer questions. She could differentiate between different forms of an adverb, and identify them as well. She was also able to correctly choose the adverb that was most fitting in a sentence from a word bank. In our last session, she mentioned that she needed more help with adverbs and now she has a full grasp of them.  To expand her knowledge, I would say we need to work on more suing adverbs that end in -ly, -er, and- est. I also think she needs more work on knowing what the adverbs are telling.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned:  I noticed that showing a fun video at the beginning of the session gave a great introduction to the topic and it grew her interest. I would show around 2-3 videos if I felt the videos didn't touch base on a lot of info. Also, we would discuss the topic for a bride moment, and we would go straight to the worksheet I prepared. I would usually just use 1-2 worksheets. The 1st one consisted of pointing out the adverb, and the 2nd worksheet would be making our own adverb. Taking a short break also helped, as it helped us both clear our minds. This time we would just spend talking and getting to know each other. This is where I could get a sense of her interest.  Also, asking her the topics she wanted to focus on helps me prepare for the next session.
