Topic/Skill: Main Idea/ Theme, Vocabulary Comprehension, Reading Comprehension

Feedback Provided to the tutee:  Alice wanted to focus on her speaking, so I felt it was important for her to do some readings out loud. She properly sounded out her words, and could successfully read a short story. In terms of her speaking, Alice needs more confidence when she speaks. There has been progress from the first time I talked to her though. She has some trouble locating the theme and main idea if the story is more than 600 words. However, she is able when the word count is from 400-550 words. Her vocabulary comprehension is very good, she only needed help with lower frequency words.

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I saw the importance of preparing for the tutoring session. I designed it similar to the lesson plan, where I had a pre-learning activity, activity pertaining to the topic, and a post-lesson one. I also learned that I should include a more engaging activity that enforces the topic.Nearing the end of the lesson, I noticed that Alice started to become disengaged. I have to prepare an activity from start to finish so it can be a more interactive session.
