Kinsey TS #8

I met with Samuel via  at 3 pm on July 26 in the Hecht House. 

Topic/Skill: We talked about Samuel's plans for after the end of his CIES session. We talked about his future plans to pass an English exam at his university in Colombia. We worked on pronunciation and automacity in conversation. 

Feedback provided to tutee: I worked with Samuel to develop the pronunciation of words that he uses frequently to talk about his research in talent searching in college athletics. I gave him feedback on grammar during his explanation of his thesis. 

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I worked with Samuel to develop new ways to imagine pronouncing English words that are particularly difficult for Samuel. This tactic of separating the parts of words and imagining them being spelled differently to better understand the pronunciation is something I find useful, but I think it could cause problems with spelling in the future.

Trying to further my evaluation of Jeahs skill we completing a reading assignment. Where we rfead brief articles and answered questions together. This testing her comprehension, which she is pretty good at. I've noticed if she reads out loud she seems to understand stuff better.

 August 3rd Today Jeah and I met after a brief break, we worked on learning new words and what they mean. She loves to draw so I let her draw the new words she learned.
