 Today I met with Samuel, a CIES student at the Hecht House.

Location: Hecht House meeting room

Topic/Skill: Speaking practice (discussion)

Feedback provided to tutee: Pronunciation corrections for repeated mistakes, support for their communicative ability and topic chosen, help with word choice and verb tenses

Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: I learned that Spanish speaking students struggle to avoid saying an "e" sound before words like "sport." He also struggled with omitting the "the" before the name of a sport (like "the golf") which comes from direct translation from Spanish to English. I learned how often I wanted to correct his speech. I decided to correct him when it interfered with my comprehension or if he repeated the mistakes multiple times.

Trying to further my evaluation of Jeahs skill we completing a reading assignment. Where we rfead brief articles and answered questions together. This testing her comprehension, which she is pretty good at. I've noticed if she reads out loud she seems to understand stuff better.

 August 3rd Today Jeah and I met after a brief break, we worked on learning new words and what they mean. She loves to draw so I let her draw the new words she learned.
