Jackson CP #2

At 7:00pm on Thursday, July 15, I met with my conversation partner Maher over zoom. We talked briefly about what we had discussed last time before we were cut off: his family, his reasons for coming to America, the history of his studies, and more. Then we switched the conversation to the topic of COVID responses, both in Saudi Arabia and the US. We both decided that both countries could've done better with their responses, enforcing masks more forcefully and shutting down more parts of society to prohibit the spread of the virus. After that, we turned the topic to soccer, something that we are both very passionate about. We discussed at length favorite moments, France's World Cup experience in 2006, and how many matches we had both been to. We swapped stories and opinions for quite a while, finally hanging up when he had to go back with his family for dinner. Overall, it was great to get to know him and his passions better, which we will hopefully continue to talk about in future meetings.
