Topic/Skill: Reading


Feedback provided to tutee: I had Je-won repeat sentences, phrases, and vocabulary words after me. If he didn't say them properly or clearly, I repeated them and had him repeat them back again. I also looked up words that he didn't know, showed him images, and used gestures to explain them.


Lesson(s) about tutoring and/or the tutee you learned: We read three short stories together today. I found more difficult ones this time to give him more of a challenge. I am learning that I have to push him out of his comfort zone just a little bit so he won't get too bored during our sessions. This time, I read the paragraphs before having him repeat after me. After the lesson, I asked if he still wants to work on reading since we have been doing the same thing for a few sessions now, and he said he does want to keep reading. To me, it seems like he is getting a lot better at reading in a very short period of time.

Trying to further my evaluation of Jeahs skill we completing a reading assignment. Where we rfead brief articles and answered questions together. This testing her comprehension, which she is pretty good at. I've noticed if she reads out loud she seems to understand stuff better.

 August 3rd Today Jeah and I met after a brief break, we worked on learning new words and what they mean. She loves to draw so I let her draw the new words she learned.
