Alexa Scalchunes TS #6

 Today I met with Masoud, a beginner student as CIES.

Date: 7/7/2021

Time: 4-5 pm

Location: Strozier Library

Topic/skill: Present progressive, simple past, pronunciation

Feedback Provided: We focused more of pronunciation and speaking this meeting compared to our last one. Masoud came with a list of words he struggled to pronounce, and from there we practiced similar words. I did not know at the time, but I was using the minimal pairs strategy. Then, we practiced both verb conjugations and pronunciation at the same time at the end by looking at last weeks lesson.

Lessons about Tutoring Learned: I learned more about practicing minimal pairs for speaking, but did not realize this until after. Going into our next meeting, I am going to try to come up with minimal pairs in advance based on what is most difficult for Masoud.

Trying to further my evaluation of Jeahs skill we completing a reading assignment. Where we rfead brief articles and answered questions together. This testing her comprehension, which she is pretty good at. I've noticed if she reads out loud she seems to understand stuff better.

 August 3rd Today Jeah and I met after a brief break, we worked on learning new words and what they mean. She loves to draw so I let her draw the new words she learned.
