Alexa Scalchunes TS #4

 Today I met with Masoud, a beginner group 1 student as CIES.

Date: 7/5/2021

Time: 3-4 pm

Location: Paper Fox cafe

Topic/skill: Simple past tense, present continuous tense, pronunciation

Feedback Provided: Before our meeting, I asked Masoud what topics he wanted to focus on and made a simple lesson plan. When going through the plan I made, we would practice each type of grammar conjugation and I also listed irregulars by what type of irregular it was (ex: adding a -t instead of -ed). Masoud struggled with some of these, as irregulars can be confusing, but with more practice he did very well.

Lessons about Tutoring Learned: This was my first tutoring session with a concrete plan, so it was nice having tasks to do together in the tutoring session. I learned more about grammar as well and was able to understand why some verbs are irregular.

Trying to further my evaluation of Jeahs skill we completing a reading assignment. Where we rfead brief articles and answered questions together. This testing her comprehension, which she is pretty good at. I've noticed if she reads out loud she seems to understand stuff better.

 August 3rd Today Jeah and I met after a brief break, we worked on learning new words and what they mean. She loves to draw so I let her draw the new words she learned.
