Alexa Scalchunes TS #3

Today I met with Aziz, an upper intermediate student as CIES.

Date: 7/2/2021

Time: 3-4 pm

Topic/skill: Speaking, sentence structure

Feedback Provided: To work on speaking skills Aziz and I focused on conversations and ensuring he used the correct sentence structure when speaking. The common issues we found that he needed to work on more included the use of articles when speaking and the structure of questions. For example, Aziz would often leave the article out of sentences, so we practiced this for a bit. Additionally, we practiced forming questions that start with the word "Is it" because these sentenced were occasionally used the incorrect way.

Lessons about Tutoring Learned: Because we worked on speaking for the whole hour, I learned to be more attentive to what Aziz was saying and what mistakes he was making. I can easily understand him, but because he is an advanced level student, we had to focus more on accuracy instead of just fluency.

Trying to further my evaluation of Jeahs skill we completing a reading assignment. Where we rfead brief articles and answered questions together. This testing her comprehension, which she is pretty good at. I've noticed if she reads out loud she seems to understand stuff better.

 August 3rd Today Jeah and I met after a brief break, we worked on learning new words and what they mean. She loves to draw so I let her draw the new words she learned.
