Alexa Scalchunes TS #15

Today I met with Masoud, a group 1 CIES student.

Date: 7/28/2021, 5-6 pm

Location: Momo's pizza

Feedback provided: Today Masoud and I practiced for his reading exam. We did he vocabulary Kahoot provided by his teacher and I saw he had a pretty clear understanding of the words. When we tried to answer questions with them, however, Masoud showed he did not have a full understanding of each word. Because of this, we went back to the text and read line by line. I asked Masoud to point out what he did not understand and we worked on it together. After doing this, we tried the questions again, and Masoud did much better after understanding the context.

Lesson learned about teaching: I think this lesson showed the difference of fully understanding the vocabulary and just being able to match definitions to words. Understanding the context of a word is just as important as the definition.

 August 3rd Today Jeah and I met after a brief break, we worked on learning new words and what they mean. She loves to draw so I let her draw the new words she learned.
