Alexa Scalchunes TS #13

Today I met with Masoud, a beginner CIES student.

Date: 7/21/2021, 3-4 pm

Location: Strozier

Feedback provided: Masoud and I prepared for his grammar quiz the next day by going over his review sheet and working on sentences with different forms of grammar, like modals, contractions, and conjugations. We compared what was different about different modals when used in sentences. Masoud showed that he had a good understanding of these topics. Sometimes he would conjugate to the wrong tense, so we would discuss why it was wrong and he would quickly correct himself.

Lessons learned about tutoring: We transitioned to more difficult activities such as sentence and paragraph writing instead of fill in the blank. This was an effort made with the scaffolding theory which I believed helped Masoud in this situation.

Trying to further my evaluation of Jeahs skill we completing a reading assignment. Where we rfead brief articles and answered questions together. This testing her comprehension, which she is pretty good at. I've noticed if she reads out loud she seems to understand stuff better.

 August 3rd Today Jeah and I met after a brief break, we worked on learning new words and what they mean. She loves to draw so I let her draw the new words she learned.
