 I met with Paola on 6/23/21 for a little over an hour at Sweet Shop on campus. First we caught up a little and asked about each other's day. Then I started a PowerPoint that had a few activities. The first was a review on adverbs. I had her explain the difference between adjectives and adverbs and give me examples. Then we discussed linking verbs and how to spot when to use an adverb or not. The next activity took the longest but sparked a lot of conversation. We did "rhyming vocab" where I had her think of as many English words that rhyme with "each". We compared words that sounded very similar and I helped her with her pronunciation to make the words contrastive. For example, we practiced saying the words "sheep" and "cheap" and "sheep" and "ship". Lastly, we watched a clip from the show Seinfeld and I had her summarize it to me to check her comprehension. This session felt very fast and it was really fun.
