Today I had my very first tutoring session with Hang-ah Kim. We first introduced ourselves and got to know each other. I first went over how I wanted to do elements of reading, listening, and speaking every class. For today's speaking portion, we had a conversation about what she does during the day, as well as how she found that many English teachers have been exchange students. We then moved on to the listening element where we watched a clip from The Incredibles. We first watched the clip and reviewed what she thought was happening. Afterwards, we watched the same clip with subtitles to see what she may have missed the first time. We talked about colloquial words, such as "booking", "honey", "the office", and "taped", in the context of the scene. Afterwards, we read an article about a 90 year-old grandmother that was having a princess themed birthday shoot following over a year of quarantine. We decided that we were going to meet at 1:30 PM every Monday and Tuesday.
