The first class I observed was a group 1 listening class. Unfortunately, there was not a lot for me to see because all of the students were working on their own assignments with headphones. Each student gets their own listening assignments that are around their level. I did try and take note of what the teacher was doing in the class. Most of it was answering simple questions, like how to spell the name Melissa, or giving instructions to each student on what their work was and preparing them for it. The instructor told me I could go at any time, so I stayed for about half the class because otherwise it was mostly watching a silent classroom on zoom. I did hear about the class later from my conversation partner, Masoud, who said that the class was challenging for him because he barely knows any English.
